The Census Bureau will hire thousands of people around the nation to conduct the 2010 Census. Some temporary Local Census Offices (LCOs) will open in late 2008 and begin hiring in early 2009. However, the majority of temporary LCOs will open in late 2009 and peak hiring will take place in the spring of 2010.

Employees

• Update the Census Bureau's address list and maps
• Interview people who have not responded by mail to the census
• Perform other temporary assignments vital to the national count
