Supplementary Survey 2001 Data Release

The first data from the 2001 Supplementary Survey (SS01) will be released later this summer. The first release will include percent change profiles for 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the nation, as well as for areas of 1 million or more population. The data will be available on the American FactFinder and on the American Community Survey Web site.

Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS)

The Census 2000 Supplementary Survey PUMS data are now available. You can access the PUMS files on the Internet at http://www.census.gov/acs/www/Products/PUMS/PUMS2.htm. Scroll to the bottom of the page to select the Housing or Population data and the state.

There are no PUMS data available for the American Community Survey test sites in 2000 or in 1999.

Survey Quality Report

"Demonstrating Survey Quality," a new report released June 3, summarizes measures of survey quality for the Census 2000 Supplementary Survey, using the 1990 and 2000 census long forms and other surveys as benchmarks. The report includes measures of coverage error, unit and item nonresponse, and sampling error. The report is available on the American Community Survey Web site at http://www.census.gov/acs/www/AdvMeth/Reports.htm.

Events Update: Census 2010 Reengineering Meetings

Community Meeting Held in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Another 2010 Census Reengineering/American Community Survey meeting was held on Monday, May 20, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Honorable John H. Logie, mayor of Grand Rapids and State Demographer Ken Darga joined Census Bureau Director C. Louis Kincannon in providing an overview of the reengineered 2010 Census plan and the American Community Survey. Census Bureau Regional Director Dwight P. Dean presented highlights and analysis of data for Grand Rapids. The meeting was covered by three Grand Rapids television stations, the Grand Rapids Press, and numerous radio stations throughout the state.

The next community meeting will be held June 28, 2002 in Seattle, Washington at the Federal Building, 915 2nd Avenue, North Auditorium at 10:00 a.m. For further information, contact Mike Burns at the Census Bureau Seattle Regional Office at 206-553-5884 or Michale.P.Burnes@census.gov.
