Source and Accuracy of Estimates
These estimates were compiled from information collected in the
March 1995 Current Population Survey (CPS) conducted by the Bureau
of the Census. The survey consisted of about 60,000 households
nationwide and was designed to produce reliable national estimates,
although some data by region and state were also compiled.
As will all sample surveys the data are subject to sampling
variability and errors of response, including underreporting and
nonreporting. These data are limited to money income received
before payments for personal income taxes, and deductions for
social security, medicare, union dues, and so forth. For further
