Naturalized Citizens: Asian Alone and When They Arrived

About 3.9 million naturalized citizens identified themselves as Asians alone. Only 2 percent arrived on our shores in 2000 or after. A quarter came during the 90s, over a third came during the 80s, just over a quarter came during the 70s, and 10 percent came before 1970. This information comes from table 8 in our recently released report on the Asian Alone or Alone and in Combination Population, available online in multiple formats. The new release includes data from 2003 and 2004. The proportions were the same for the combined Asian Alone and in combination population. (Just over one million
people are estimated to be Asian in combination with another race.)
