Men Marry Later Than Women, ACS Ranking Tables Show

At their first marriage, men are generally older than women in almost all states. In the District of Columbia and several states, the difference is too close to call. In DC, men average 29.9 years at first marriage, women 29.8 years. The largest gap occurs in three western states (Nevada, Wyoming, and Utah). This information comes from the ranking tables released with data based on the 2005 American Community Survey available in the American FactFinder. This release includes 55 ranking tables showing how states measure up on a host of topics. Additional releases of 2005 ACS data will include more ranking tables (grand total = 86) so stay tuned.
