Population

International Data Base Update: 2007. Internet files showing demographic indicators such as infant mortality, life expectancy, fertility rates, net migration, and population growth for 228 countries and areas of the world. Includes current estimates and moving population pyramids that project age and sex distributions to 2050.

New Year's Day Population. The Census Bureau rings in the new year with its annual projection of the nation's population for January 1, 2008. The release includes birth, death, and net international migration rates.

Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates (SAIPE): 2005. These tables provide estimates of income and poverty for states and counties, as well as estimates of poverty and population for school districts, median household income, and poverty rates of various age groups. SAIPE provides annual updates for the administration of federal programs and the allocation of federal funds to local jurisdictions.

State Population Estimates: July 1, 2007. Internet tables showing July 1, 2007, population estimates and components of change for the nation, states, and Puerto Rico, will reveal which state's population is growing the quickest and which state the slowest.

What It's Worth: Field of Training and Economic Status: 2004. Series of tables from the Survey of Income and Program Participation examines the relationship between field of training and monthly earnings. We've seen the data showing that more education usually equals a higher salary. But what fields of study have the greater payoff?

Government

2006 State and Local Government Employee-Retirement Systems. Annual data on revenues, expenditures, financial assets, and membership for public employee-retirement systems. Data are shown for individual retirement systems as well as in aggregate at the national, state, and local levels.

Housing

2006 State and County Housing Unit Estimates. Updated estimates of the nation's housing stock at the national, state, and county levels for 2006.

Housing Starts and Building Permits: November 2007. Press release showing data for housing starts, completions, and building permits. Scheduled for release December 18, 2007.

Advance Report on Durable Goods Manufactures' Shipments, Inventories, and Orders: November 2007. Press release showing advance information on key business indicators. Scheduled for release December 27, 2007.

New Residential Sales: November 2007. Press release reporting new one-family houses sold and for sale. Includes sales prices, months on the market, and stage of construction. Scheduled for release December 28, 2007.

Facts for Features: 50th Daytona 500. NASCAR's 500-mile stock-car race that began in 1959 at Daytona International Speedway has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon. A global TV audience of more than 50 million is expected to watch the February 17 race, with the winner pocketing roughly $1.5 million. To commemorate this automotive milestone, the Census Bureau will compile a collection of facts and figures relating to our nation, Florida, and Daytona Beach during the past 50 years.
