TABLES 3WK, 5WK, 6WK, and 7WK, which are in a separate file, contain the estimates on which the percents in the final tables are based. The data were collected in October 1993 in the Current Population Survey, which is an ongoing monthly survey of approximately 55,000 households. The tables are consistent with tables published in Current Population Reports (CPR), Series P-23, No. 171, "Computer Use in the United States: 1989" and No. 155, "Computer Use in the United States: 1984." As with all sample surveys, the CPS estimates may differ from the figures that would have been obtained if a complete census had been taken on the same date using the same schedules, instructions, and enumerators. Approximate standard errors for these data are similar to those found in Appendix B of CPR Series p-23, No. 171.
