Profile America — Saturday, July 19th. Specialized collectors from a 12-state area and Canada will be converging on Frankenmuth, Michigan, today. They’re headed for an event called SummerSwap, staged by the Brewery Collectibles Club of America. Tables and booths in Heritage Park will offer a wide variety of marketing paraphernalia from brewers past and present, including steins, cans, bottles, coasters, mirrors and neon signs. Beer has been around for a long time and remains very popular in the U.S. Americans drink an average of just over 21 gallons of beer each year — compared to 52 gallons of carbonated soft drinks, 24 gallons of coffee and 25 gallons of bottled water. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau online at <www.census.gov>.
